Trogir and Čiovo (Okrug Gornji, Okrug Donji, Slatine)
Most of our villas in this region are around Trogir. Its old town sits on a small island linked by bridges, and Čiovo, just across the water, has the villages of Okrug Gornji, Okrug Donji and Slatine with pebble beaches and sea views towards Split. Split airport is only around 10 minutes from Trogir, and a little longer to Čiovo.
Best for: Short transfers, a historic old town and boat trips
Not for you if: You want peace and quiet in August: traffic on the Čiovo bridge and the Okrug seafront can be heavy.
The Makarska Riviera (Makarska, Brela, Baška Voda, Podgora)
A string of pine-backed pebble beaches runs below the Biokovo mountains, from Brela, whose Punta Rata beach is one of the best known in Croatia, through Baška Voda and Makarska to Podgora. Makarska is the liveliest town, with a busy harbour promenade. The Biokovo Skywalk viewpoint is reached by a narrow mountain road with timed, online-booked entry.
Best for: Families and beach lovers who want long pebble beaches
Not for you if: You want a short transfer: allow around an hour and a quarter to an hour and a half from Split airport.
Omiš and Podstrana (coast south of Split)
Podstrana is a long, mostly residential strip of beaches just south of Split, handy for evenings in the city. Omiš sits where the Cetina river cuts through a gorge to the sea, with rafting, canyoning and zip-line trips from town and a sandy-pebble beach at the river mouth. Split airport is around 40 minutes to an hour away, depending on traffic through Split.
Best for: Active families who want Split nearby and river adventures
Not for you if: You dislike main-road noise: the coast road runs close behind many seafront properties.
Primošten, Rogoznica and Marina (between Trogir and Šibenik)
Primošten's old town sits on a small peninsula topped by a church, with vineyards on the hills behind. Rogoznica is a marina village with sheltered bays, and Marina is a small harbour village west of Trogir. Split airport is roughly 20 minutes from Marina and around 45 minutes from Primošten, and Šibenik is about half an hour from Primošten.
Best for: Couples who want a pretty village base and quieter bays
Not for you if: You want lots of choice in one spot: villas are spread across small villages and headlands.
Šibenik, Vodice, Tribunj, Pirovac and Murter
Šibenik has a stone old town and the Cathedral of St James, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Vodice is the busiest resort on this stretch, while Tribunj and Pirovac are smaller and quieter. Murter, reached by a short bridge, is the main base for boat trips to the Kornati islands. Split and Zadar airports are each around an hour away.
Best for: Krka National Park, Kornati boat trips and better value
Not for you if: You want to swim under the Krka waterfalls: swimming at Skradinski buk has been banned since 2021.
Brač and Hvar (Postira, Pokrivenik)
Postira is a small harbour village on the north coast of Brač, a short drive from Supetar, where the car ferry from Split arrives after roughly 50 minutes. Pokrivenik is a quiet bay on Hvar's north coast, a long way from the bustle of Hvar town. Book car ferries ahead in July and August.
Best for: An island week with a slower pace
Not for you if: You want plenty of choice: we have far fewer villas on the islands than on the mainland.
