Arbanija is a small village on the island of Čiovo, administered by Trogir, and suits families after a pool home close to Trogir. Around half the homes have a private pool and all are air-conditioned. The village itself is tiny, so expect to head into Trogir for more.
Arbanija has about 350 residents and lies at 5 m above sea level on the D126 state road, on Čiovo, an island about 15 km long and up to 3.5 km wide that shelters Trogir and the Kaštela gulf. The village is named after the Arbanasi, ethnic Albanians who settled on this coast in the 18th century. A bridge has linked Čiovo with Trogir since 1964, and a newer bridge now runs from the island to the mainland, because the old link ran short of capacity in high season. Our homes sit tightly together, mostly for families and small groups.
Its old town has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, with the 15th-century Kamerlengo Fortress and the 13th-century St Lawrence Cathedral.

Split Airport is about 6 km from Trogir, with a regular bus between the two, and Trogir is about 27 km west of Split. Arbanija is on Čiovo, reached over the bridges from Trogir. A car is the easiest way to get around the island.
Summers are hot, and high-season traffic onto Čiovo grew heavy enough that a second bridge to the mainland was built, so allow time for crossings on busy days. Winters are mild, so check restaurant opening times for a winter visit.
