Brodarica and Žaborić are small villages on the D8 coast road south of Šibenik, handy for the city and for Krka National Park. Many homes sleep six or more and many have a private pool. Public transport from the airport is slow, so a hire car matters.
Brodarica is a village of roughly 2,600 people about 8 km south of Šibenik, facing the island of Krapanj, with a ferry line running across from the village. Žaborić is a much smaller village further along the same road, between Grebaštica and Brodarica, and tourism is its main business. The homes sit close together rather than spread over the hills, so the choice is mostly about which stretch of shore you want to be near. Both villages have their own beaches, as does Grebaštica. Evenings in the villages are low-key; for clubs, people drive to Vodice, about 15 minutes from Šibenik.
The city, 8 km north of Brodarica, has the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James, built entirely of stone between 1431 and 1536.
A national park roughly 18 km north of Šibenik, so an easy day out from either village by car.
The island facing Brodarica, reached on ferry line 501 from the village.
About half an hour by car from Šibenik, and home to the Aurora night club.
Šibenik has no airport of its own; Split Airport is about 50 km from the city, and Zadar is the other option. Public transport from Split Airport to Krapanj, via Brodarica, needs changes and takes around four hours, so most visitors hire a car at the airport.
Šibenik has hot, dry summers and mild, humid winters, with July and August the hottest months and January and February the coldest. High summer is the time for swimming off the village beaches. The cooler months suit sightseeing in Šibenik and a day at Krka, once the summer heat has passed.
Brodarica is the bigger village, with around 2,600 residents and a ferry across to Krapanj, while Žaborić has about 550 and lives mainly from tourism. The homes are close together, so either gives the same access to the road and Šibenik.
About 8 km. Brodarica lies south of Šibenik and is reached by the D8 state road, and Žaborić sits on the same road between Grebaštica and Brodarica, so the city is a short drive from both villages.
Yes. Krka National Park is roughly 18 km north of Šibenik, which is itself 8 km up the road from Brodarica, so it works well as a day trip from either village.
Vodice wins, with the Hacienda club, and it is around 15 minutes by car from Šibenik. Brodarica and Žaborić are quiet villages, so plan to drive or take a taxi if you want a late night.
