Villas in Camaiore

About Camaiore

Camaiore is the largest municipality in Versilia, with about 32,000 residents, and it runs from the Apuan Alps down to the coast. The old centre sits in a wide valley at the foot of the mountains, with a Collegiate Church from 1278 and the Lombard Abbey of San Pietro on the Via Francigena. Lido di Camaiore, the beach resort, is a separate place on the coast, about 12 minutes away. Our homes are spread over about six kilometres, most with a garden, many with a fireplace and a good share with a pool, and some very large houses for big groups. Fewer than half have air conditioning, so check the listing for July. At Corpus Domini, in late May or early June, the centre is carpeted with sawdust pictures.

Getting to Camaiore

When to go to Camaiore

Beach season is summer, when the Lido boardwalk and pier fill at sunset. In late May or early June, Corpus Domini turns the old centre into a display of sawdust carpets, some reaching 40 metres. The fireplaces in many of our homes suit colder months, when the mountains behind Camaiore are the draw. We found no published opening dates for Lido beach clubs, so ask before an out-of-season trip.
