Marina Pietrasanta, or Marina di Pietrasanta, is a Versilia beach resort with about 4 km of sandy coast. Few of the homes have a private pool, so the beach does the work. Summer brings a full programme of events to the theatre and park at Villa La Versiliana.
Marina di Pietrasanta is the seaside district of Pietrasanta, in Lucca province, and tourism is still its main income. The beaches are wide, sandy and well equipped, and the municipal one, Bagno Pietrasanta, is the most extensive, with sky-blue umbrellas. The pine forest that once covered the area has mostly gone; a remnant survives between Motrone and Focette. Our homes sit close together, and most have a garden, though only a few have a private pool. Many sleep about six. Evenings revolve around the sea front, which has a run of nightlife venues facing the water, and around the summer programme at Villa La Versiliana, a theatre and park. A few kilometres inland, Pietrasanta has a medieval centre of galleries and marble workshops. In winter, check opening times.

Peaks inland of Pietrasanta, which sits between these mountains and the sea; they recall the town's long marble tradition.
Pisa airport is the practical choice, about 37 minutes by road. Without a car, the train from Pisa Centrale to Pietrasanta plus a local bus takes about an hour and 20 minutes, and CTT Nord buses serve the resort. A car gives the most freedom, especially for evenings and trips inland.
Summer is the season, when exhibitions fill Pietrasanta and Villa La Versiliana Park hosts entertainment and performances. Check opening times before an off-season trip. In November, a San Martino fair and food market takes place in the centre of Pietrasanta, a few kilometres inland.

Yes, it is only a few kilometres inland. The medieval centre has galleries, boutiques and sculpture, including works by Botero and Mitoraj, around Piazza Duomo.
