Caorle is a fishing town on the Adriatic with a pedestrian old centre of pastel houses, and most homes here have a private pool. The long town beach is family-oriented, so expect it busy in summer.
Caorle is a working fishing town of roughly eleven thousand people, between the Livenza and Lemene river mouths and on the coast between Eraclea and Bibione. The old centre around the fishing port is pedestrian, with small painted houses, narrow calli and little squares. The cathedral's round bell tower served for centuries as a lookout over the sea and is now used as a lighthouse, and the church of the Madonna dell'Angelo stands on a small promontory over the water. The long beach is where the family activities happen in summer. Homes are spread over a few kilometres around the town, nearly all with air conditioning and most with a private pool. Behind the town the lagoon still has casoni, the huts fishermen lived in over winter.
A church on a small promontory over the sea, tied in local legend to a statue of the Virgin Mary that fishermen found at sea.
The lagoon behind the town, where traditional casoni survive and organised activities run.
Resort on the coast on the far side of Caorle from Eraclea, with a much larger choice of homes on this site.
Venice Marco Polo is the nearest practical airport, around an hour by car. A direct airport bus exists but runs roughly once a week, and the alternative is two bus legs taking over two hours, so most visitors hire a car. Once in town, the old centre is pedestrian and easy on foot.
Summer is when the long beach runs its family activities and the old centre is busiest. Outside summer the town is quieter and the lagoon and seafront walks are easier going, though you should check opening times for restaurants and beach services first. Each year the Feast of the Incoronation brings fireworks, known locally as the fire of the bell tower.
Yes. The town has a long beach where family-oriented activities run in summer, and most homes here have a private pool, so children get the sea and a pool at the house. The beach is busy in high season.
It is a real fishing town. Roughly eleven thousand people live there, the fishing port is still central to it, and the historic centre has a cathedral, narrow lanes and small squares.
Choose Caorle if you want a historic fishing centre to walk round in the evening. Bibione is the next resort along the same coast and has a much bigger choice of homes on this site.
Around an hour by car from Venice Marco Polo. Public transport is awkward, with a direct bus about once a week, so plan on driving.
The old centre has a cathedral with a round bell tower and the Madonna dell'Angelo church on its promontory, and the lagoon behind the town has fishermen's casoni.
