Zinnowitz, Trassenheide and Karlshagen (north-west)
Around half of our Usedom villas are here. Zinnowitz has a long promenade and a pier with a diving gondola that takes you down to look at the Baltic seabed without getting wet. Trassenheide has a large tropical butterfly house, handy on a wet afternoon. Karlshagen is quieter, with a small harbour, and Peenemünde next door has a museum in the old rocket-test site's power station. Berlin is around two and a half to three hours by car.
Best for: Families who want a wide beach and things to do on wet days
Not for you if: You want somewhere sleepy in August: Zinnowitz is the busiest resort at this end of the island.
