Privlaka is a quiet village between Nin and the bridge to Vir, with sandy, shallow beaches and mostly houses with gardens. It suits families with young children who are happy to drive. There is little nightlife.
Privlaka is a single village of about 2,100 people spread over 11 square kilometres on the Zadar Riviera, with the bridge to Vir to the north and Nin about 9 km to the south. The beaches line a long sandy bay. Selo has golden sand and a flat entry, Škrapavac and Bilotinjak have clear, shallow water for small children, and Sabunike has fine sand with a very gradual slope. At Mostina, black mud is used to treat rheumatism. Our homes are mainly detached houses close to the village, most with gardens and a good share with pools. Evenings mean konobas serving pršut, cheese, fish and grilled meat rather than bars. On clear days the Velebit mountains show to the east from Sabunike.
Small town about 9 km south whose old centre sits on a lagoon islet, with the 9th-century Holy Cross church and sandy beaches.
Low island reached by the bridge to the north of Privlaka, with pebble and sandy beaches and plenty of holiday homes.
City about 21 km away, with an old town on a promontory, the Sea Organ and the largest Roman forum on the eastern Adriatic.
Beach near Nin used for kitesurfing, while windsurfers base themselves at Kraljičina beach close by.
Zadar airport sits 8 km outside Zadar, which is about 21 km from Privlaka. UK flights are seasonal, from Stansted, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and others, and Stansted to Zadar takes about two hours twenty minutes. You will want a car, since the beaches, Nin and Zadar are spread out.
Summer is the time to come, when the shallow bays suit small children best. July and August are the busiest months. UK flights to Zadar are seasonal, so out of season you need a connection. The bura, a cold, gusty wind most common in winter, blows hardest along the Velebit coast to the north-east.
Yes, especially with young children. Škrapavac and Bilotinjak have clear, shallow water suited to small children and non-swimmers, and most of our homes here have gardens. Teenagers may find the evenings quiet.
Yes. The beaches are spread along the bay, Nin is about 9 km away and Zadar about 21 km, so a car is the practical way to reach them, the airport and the bridge to Vir.
Zadar. Privlaka is about 21 km from Zadar city, and the airport sits 8 km outside the centre. UK flights are seasonal, with Ryanair from Stansted taking about two hours twenty minutes and easyJet flying from Gatwick.
Mostly sand. Selo has golden sand, Sabunike has fine sand with a few small stones and a very gradual slope, and Vrilo mixes sand with some pebbles and concrete sunbathing areas.
Privlaka is the quieter village, with houses, gardens and its own sandy bay. Nin, about 9 km south, has the old town on its lagoon islet and the Holy Cross church, so many stay in Privlaka and visit Nin.
