About Poreč
Poreč is a town of roughly 16,600 people around a harbour sheltered by the small island of Sveti Nikola. The old town still follows its Roman street plan, with the Decumanus and Cardo Maximus, and the Euphrasian Basilica, rebuilt in the 6th century, has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. Tourist zones run along about 37 km of shoreline, from Plava Laguna, Zelena Laguna and Brulo south of town to Lanterna and Červar Porat to the north. Brulo has water sports, an aquapark and pine shade. Our homes are spread out across the area around the town, mostly compact houses and apartments with air conditioning, and a good share have a garden or a pool. Many hotels here open only from April to October, so the resort side quietens in winter.

Pula airport has seasonal flights from several UK airports, including Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and Manchester. It is about 55 km away, around 45 minutes by car. Rijeka and Trieste airports are the other options. In summer a boat runs from Venice. Homes outside the old town generally mean a car or a taxi, as buses are infrequent.
When to go to Poreč
June to September is very busy, and the temporary population can exceed 120,000. July highs are about 30 degrees and the sea can reach 28, while January averages about 6 degrees. Many hotels shut outside April to October, so spring and early autumn give the town without the peak crowds, though some resort facilities are closed.

Yes. It was rebuilt in the 6th century and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. The old town also holds the Marafor square, where a 1st-century temple was dedicated to Neptune.
Poreč or Rovinj for a villa holiday?
Choose Poreč for resort facilities, a Roman-plan old town and the basilica. Choose Rovinj for a harbour old town on an old island, though its homes are spread over a larger area. By road they are about 40 minutes apart.
How far is Pula airport from Poreč?
About 55 km, which takes roughly 45 minutes by car. Pula has seasonal flights from London Gatwick, Luton and Stansted and from Manchester and Birmingham. Pula is the closest airport, with Rijeka and Trieste in Italy as alternatives.
Is Poreč busy in August?
Yes. The region feels very busy from June to September and the temporary population can pass 120,000 in high season. Book early and expect crowds at the old town and the main beaches.
Can you walk the Parenzana near Poreč?
In parts. The old narrow-gauge line from Trieste to Poreč closed in 1935, and its Vižinada to Motovun stretch in Croatia is popular with walkers. The Italian and most Slovenian sections are a walking and cycling trail, while some Croatian sections are overgrown.

Fewer than half of the homes here have a private pool, though nearly all have air conditioning and many have a garden. Filter by pool before you search, as most homes are compact houses for about four.
