Aschau im Zillertal is a quiet Ziller valley village for skiers happy to travel to the Zillertal Arena lifts at Zell am Ziller. Most homes are small, and few have a pool or sauna.
Aschau sits at 567 metres in a narrow neck of the Ziller valley, with houses on both sides of the river. It has under two thousand residents. The homes cluster tightly around the village rather than spreading up side valleys, and most are small, with a garden more common than a sauna. Aschau is not one of the Zillertal Arena villages, so skiing means a trip along the valley to Zell am Ziller, where several ski bus companies run during the season. For anything lively you head to the larger neighbours too. Outside the seasons, expect it to be very quiet.
