Villas in Saas-Grund
Saas-Grund suits families and walkers who want a Saas valley base with its own gondolas up to Kreuzboden and Hohsaas. Homes are mostly apartments and chalets sleeping around five, and many have a garden. The trade-off is that Saas-Fee, with the bigger ski terrain and the car-free centre, is in the neighbouring village.

About Saas-Grund
Saas-Grund is a village of just under a thousand people at 1,559 metres in the Saas valley. A gondola climbs in two sections to Kreuzboden at 2,400 metres and on to Hohsaas at 3,200, with the Weissmies and Lagginhorn close in view. Kreuzboden has a trout lake, a small zoo with pot-bellied pigs and dwarf goats, a bike skills park and monster scooters for the ride back down. Our homes are spread over a couple of kilometres, mostly apartments and chalets with two bedrooms, and none have private pools. Mountain restaurants at Kreuzboden and Hohsaas, and the Weissmieshütte hut, handle the daytime.

Saas-Grund villa holidays: questions answered
Saas-Grund or Saas-Fee?
Saas-Grund has its own Kreuzboden and Hohsaas gondolas, while Saas-Fee is car-free, higher at 1,800 metres, and has the bigger ski area to 3,600 metres. Postal buses connect the two, so you can ski both.
What is there for children at Kreuzboden above Saas-Grund?
Kreuzboden has a water-games park, a trout lake, a small zoo with pot-bellied pigs and dwarf goats, go-karts and a bike skills park. Monster scooters run downhill to Saas-Grund, so the ride back is part of the fun.
Can you ski in Saas-Grund?
Yes, on the Hohsaas Ski Run and Hohsi Snowland, reached by the Kreuzboden and Hohsaas gondolas. Saas-Grund's ski area is small and independent, linked to the rest of the Saastal by postal bus rather than lifts.
Is Saas-Grund good for hiking?
Yes. Paths lead from the Hohsaas area to Almagelleralp, Gspon and Visperterminen, and a theme trail names 18 four-thousanders. There is also the Jägihorn via ferrata and a flower promenade, and the SaastalCard covers valley buses from the first night.
How do I get to Saas-Grund without a car?
Take the train to Visp and then the PostBus up the valley to Saas-Grund. Sion is the nearest airport at roughly an hour and a half by public transport, and the SaastalCard covers the local buses once you are here.
