About Müstair
Müstair is the lowest and largest village in Val Müstair, at 1,273 metres, and the easternmost village in Switzerland. Italy lies just across the border, with South Tyrol villages such as Taufers im Münstertal as neighbours. The Benedictine Convent of St John, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the main sight, and most villagers speak Romansh. Our homes sit in and around the village, mostly small and for about four to five, with few for larger groups. Val Müstair is its own valley, not part of the Engadine; it only shares an administrative region with the Lower Engadine. In 2009 Müstair merged with Santa Maria, Tschierv, Fuldera, Lü and Valchava into one municipality. Come for the convent and a quiet border valley.
