Bever is a small Upper Engadine village next to Samedan, with the Val Bever side valley for walking and cross-country skiing. The homes sit together in the village, which has only a small supply of shops and restaurants.
Bever has about 580 residents and lies at the foot of Crasta Mora; the lowest point of the municipality, on the Inn, is about 1,690 metres. It has a Rhaetian Railway station, a Volg supermarket with a post office, and the Bever Lodge, described as the first modular hotel built entirely of wood. A large project has been restoring the Inn floodplains since 2012. The Val Bever side valley is used for hiking, cycling and cross-country skiing, and the hamlet of Spinas, at the south portal of the Albula tunnel, is largely car-free. Our homes are all within the village, mostly small and mostly with a garden. It is a small village, so expect quiet evenings.

Zurich is the usual gateway, with a drive of around two and a half hours or a train via Landquart in about three hours forty. Bever has its own Rhaetian Railway station on the Albula and Engadin lines, and Engadin Bus serves the village, so you can manage without a car.
Winter means cross-country skiing in the Val Bever, and Samedan next door has winter walks along the Inn. Summer is for hiking, cycling and trail running in the valley, where the Märliweg leads from story to story. The village sits high, close to 1,700 metres, so check what is open before an off-season trip.
Yes. Val Bever is used for cross-country skiing, and Samedan next door also lists cross-country skiing among its winter activities. Bever is mainly a base for cross-country and walking rather than for downhill.

Very. It has about 580 residents, and its restaurants include Alp Suvretta, Bever Lodge and Boutique Bistrot Bijoux. Shopping is a Volg supermarket with a post office.
Bever is smaller and quieter, with the Val Bever on hand for walking. Samedan, the capital of the Upper Engadine, is a Rhaetian Railway hub with the Muottas Muragl viewpoint, so it suits you better if you want a bigger place.
