About Jávea
Jávea, or Xàbia in Valencian, has three main areas: an old town of narrow winding streets, a fishing port lined with restaurants and bars, and the Arenal, the main commercial and leisure district. The Arenal beach is 480 metres of coarse sand with shallow water and a promenade of restaurants and cafes, and it is the only sandy beach in the municipality. The port has a gravel beach and a marina. Behind the town rises the Montgó massif, over 750 metres high and a natural park since 1987. Most of our homes have a private pool and many have a garden, and they are spread over several kilometres rather than gathered in one centre. In the evening most Arenal restaurants turn into lounge bars. About half of Jávea's residents are foreign nationals.

Summer is the busy season. In July and August car access to Granadella cove is limited, and the cove has lifeguards all summer. Jávea villa holidays: questions answered
Is Jávea good for families?
Yes, for families who want a pool. The Arenal has shallow water, a promenade and five play areas for children, and most homes here have a private pool. It is the only sandy beach, though: the port beach is gravel and Granadella is pebble and rock.
Do you need a car in Jávea?
Yes. A car is essential for most locations in Jávea. The old town, port and Arenal are separate areas, and the homes are spread over several kilometres rather than gathered in one centre.
Is the beach at Jávea sand or pebble?
Mostly not sand. The Arenal, 480 metres of coarse sand, is the only sandy beach in the municipality. The port beach is gravel, and Granadella cove in the south is gravel, rock and pebbles, with clear water suited to snorkelling and diving.
Which airport for Jávea?
Valencia and Alicante are each about 100 km from Jávea, Valencia to the north and Alicante to the south. Pick whichever has the better flight, then hire a car, since most homes here need one.
Jávea or Calpe for a villa?
Jávea suits families wanting more space: most homes have a private pool and many have a garden. Calpe has more fine sand, with Arenal-Bol and Levante both Blue Flag beaches, and the 332 metre Peñón de Ifach above its port.
