Portobello di Gallura is a marina on the Aglientu coast of Sardinia and suits a villa stay built around beaches. Aglientu is a small municipality of about 1,200 people, so plan on driving for shops and restaurants.
Portobello is a marina in the comune of Aglientu, whose coastline runs for about 22 km with long unspoilt stretches. The marina has two churches, San Giovanni and San Silverio, dating from the 1930s. Behind the coast the ground is granite, with large boulders and green valleys, and the shore alternates sandy beaches backed by high dunes with tall cliffs. Our homes sit close together around Portobello rather than spread along the coast. They tend to be roomy, with three bedrooms or so, some have a garden and few have a private pool. Aglientu itself has only about 1,200 residents, so evenings are mostly spent at the house, and out of season you should expect little to be open.

One of the largest beaches on the Aglientu coast, lying on the border with the Santa Teresa Gallura area.
Another of the largest beaches along Aglientu's 22 km coastline, and an alternative to Rena Majore and Vignola.
The municipality next door to Aglientu, with Rena Majore beach sitting on the boundary between the two.
Olbia is the practical gateway, and the drive from Portobello di Gallura takes around an hour and twenty minutes. Buses via Aglientu and Arzachena take well over two hours, so a hire car for the whole stay makes far more sense.
Beach weather is what the area is for, so book for the warmer months if swimming matters. Outside them, check that any restaurant you want is open before you drive, and bring groceries for the first night. Aglientu is a small municipality, so choice is limited.
Neither, strictly. Portobello is a marina within the comune of Aglientu, a municipality of about 1,200 people, with two churches from the 1930s. Shops and restaurants are limited, so a car is part of the plan.
