Villasimius sits at the southeastern tip of Sardinia, surrounded by some of the island's best beaches. The town itself is small — a summer-oriented resort village with restaurants, gelaterias, and shops that come alive between June and September and are largely shuttered in winter. The appeal is the coastline: a series of bays and beaches with white sand and Caribbean-clear water, backed by Mediterranean scrub and the protected Capo Carbonara marine area. If your priority is beach quality, Villasimius delivers. If you want cultural depth, you'll need to look elsewhere.
Why Stay in Villasimius
- Beaches: Porto Giunco, Simius, and Campus are the headline beaches. Porto Giunco has a flamingo lagoon behind it and consistently ranks among Sardinia's finest. The sand is white, the water is turquoise, and the setting is protected parkland.
- Marine protected area: Capo Carbonara covers the headland and offshore islands. Snorkelling and diving are good. Boat trips visit the marine reserve and Isola dei Cavoli.
- Cagliari access: Sardinia's capital is 50 minutes by car. It has a proper old town, archaeological museum, and good restaurants — a useful contrast to the beach routine.
- Seasonal focus: This is a summer destination. Outside June to September, many businesses close. The upside of the seasonal model is that the infrastructure is well set up for beach holidays when it's open.
