Capoterra works for families after a house with a garden and pool between 10 and 15 km from Cagliari, close to its airport. There are only a handful of homes here, and Capoterra is a sizeable working town at the foot of Monte Arcosu rather than a beach resort.
Capoterra is a town of about 23,000 people on the western arm of the Golfo degli Angeli, squeezed between the Santa Gilla lagoon and the forested hills of Monte Arcosu. The Capoterra pond, part of the Cagliari lagoon, draws flamingos and black-winged stilts. The beaches belong to coastal districts such as La Maddalena, Frutti d'Oro and Torre degli Ulivi rather than to the old centre. Our homes stand together a few kilometres south of that centre; each has a garden and air conditioning, most have a pool, and they sleep five or six.
Nature reserve at the foot of which the town spreads, nearly 4,000 hectares of forest with holm and cork oak at its core, and Sardinian deer.
Sardinia's capital, 10 to 15 km away; ARST bus line 130 links it with Capoterra.

Cagliari Elmas airport is about 24 km away, roughly 25 minutes by car. Buses go via Cagliari and take over an hour, so hire a car; you will need one for the beaches and Monte Arcosu too.
Yes, though not in the town centre. The coastal districts of La Maddalena Spiaggia, Frutti d'Oro and Torre degli Ulivi each have a beach, so plan to drive down from the homes.
Between 10 and 15 km, depending on where you measure from, and the airport is about 25 minutes by car. ARST buses run between Cagliari and Capoterra on line 130, but a car is far more practical for the coast.
