About Rome
This is a city stay, with homes spread over roughly seven kilometres around the middle of Rome rather than in one neighbourhood. The central sights are close: the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona and Piazza di Pietra cluster in the historic centre, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Vatican Museums and St Peter's sit inside Vatican City, an independent country within Rome's boundaries, and Metro line A stops at Ottaviano for the museums. Trastevere is built around the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere and needs little planning. Most homes have two bedrooms, a median of between four and five guests, and air conditioning. Few have a garden and almost none a pool. Rome is Italy's most popular tourist destination, with 8.6 million tourists in 2019, so the big sights are rarely quiet.
