Villas in Rome: Historical City Center

About Rome: Historical City Center

This is the old core of Rome, where the headline sights sit close together. The Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain are about seven minutes apart on foot, and the Spanish Steps are a short walk from Trevi. You can walk through the centre as far as the Colosseum: Via dei Fori Imperiali leads to it past the Altare della Patria, and the Pantheon is reached from Via del Corso. The Pantheon was probably dedicated around AD 126 and has been a church since 609; its oculus was never covered, so rain falls on the floor. Our homes are spread over a few kilometres across the historic centre, mostly for two to four with a few for large parties, almost all air conditioned and few with a garden. Check opening times of individual sights before an off-season visit.

Rome has hot, dry summers, with July the driest month, and mild, humid winters. Autumn and early winter are the wettest, peaking in November. Snow is rare and rarely settles. Rain falls straight through the Pantheon's open oculus onto the floor, a sight in itself on a wet day. Air conditioning is nearly universal in the homes here.
