Villas in Ventimiglia

About Ventimiglia

Ventimiglia is a border town of about 24,000 people, roughly 7 km from France. The Roia river meets the sea at a small harbour and divides the town in two. The medieval centre sits on a hill above the newer town, whose seafront hosts a weekly Friday street market that draws many visitors from France. The Roman theatre of Albintimilium, from the first half of the 2nd century, stands about 2 km east of the modern town, and the Balzi Rossi caves hold Palaeolithic remains. Our homes are scattered over a few kilometres around Ventimiglia, mostly for two to four, some with a pool or garden and some with air conditioning.

Getting to Ventimiglia

Nice Airport is the practical choice, about 40 minutes by car (roughly 29 miles). Ventimiglia station joins the Genoa to France line, and trains to Menton run about every 15 minutes, so day trips over the border need no car. Homes spread around the town are easier with one.

When to go to Ventimiglia

Fridays are the day to plan around, because of the seafront market and its traffic. The Hanbury Gardens are open all year, but opening hours shorten in winter and the gardens close on Mondays from 1 November to the end of February. Check their current hours before you go.
