About Vig

Vig is a town of about 1,700 people in Odsherred Municipality, on the Odsherred railway line between Nykøbing Sjælland and Holbæk. Danish national road 21 runs through it, and the town has a church and hosts the annual Vig Festival, a music festival. The homes are scattered around the town, mostly sleeping about six in three bedrooms, with a fireplace in most and a sauna in some. The coast up towards Sjællands Odde, a long spit on Zealand's north-west coast where ferries leave for Jutland, is a popular summer-home and beach area. Evenings are quiet, and out of season Vig is a working town.

Vig has a station on the Odsherred line between Nykøbing Sjælland and Holbæk, and is on national road 21. Mols-Linien ferries leave Sjællands Odde for Aarhus and Ebeltoft. A hire car is the practical way to reach the homes.

When to go to Vig

The coast around Sjællands Odde is a popular summer-home and beach area, so the warm months are the busy ones. At Odden Havn, angling for sea trout is good all year, especially in autumn, and garfish come in May; northerly and north-westerly winds make fishing harder. Fireplaces in most homes help in the cold months.
