About Græsted
Græsted is a small town of about 3,600 people just south of Gilleleje, on the Gribskov railway line, and its old name, Gresholdt, meant a place with grass and forest. The homes are grouped closely together rather than spread around the area. Gilleleje, ten minutes away by car or local train, is a fishing town and seaside resort on the north coast of Zealand, with the fifth-largest commercial fishing harbour in Denmark. The same Gribskov line also runs to Hillerød and its Renaissance castle. Evenings in Græsted are quiet, and most guests eat in or drive to Gilleleje. Fireplaces are common; saunas and pools are not.
