About Holbæk
Holbæk is a town of about 31,000 on Holbæk Fjord, an inlet of the Isefjord, with a commercial port, a marina and the ferry to the island of Orø. The town was founded in 1236, the year work began on Holbæk Castle. Strandparken, a park on the southernmost stretch of the Isefjord within walking distance of the centre, has a playground, a café and an Olafur Eliasson sculpture, and swimming is from the jetties at Søbadet Venedig. The homes are scattered around the town, many with a fireplace. Evenings mean a town centre and the Musikhus Elværket concert venue, and out of season Holbæk simply carries on.
