Pandrup is an inland town of about 2,800, but the homes sit on the Rødhus coast of Jammerbugten. Rødhus beach allows cars and has a newsstand and café, but little else, so most shopping means a drive.
Pandrup itself is a town of roughly 2,800 people in Jammerbugt Municipality, first mentioned in 1470. Our homes are not in it: their position falls on the coast at Rødhus, on the sandy shore of Jammerbugten, the bay whose name is translated as the Bay of Woe after its many shipwrecks. Rødhus Church, built in 1913, is nicknamed the Church at the end of the world and lit only by candles. Rødhus beach is open to cars, with a newsstand and café and a car park. Blokhus, a village of about 500 people, has a white sandy beach with dunes behind, and Fårup Sommerland, the first summer park in Scandinavia, lies north of Pandrup. The homes are close together, mostly sleeping six, with a fireplace in most, and few have a pool.
A village with a white sandy beach, dunes and a beach centre built in 2011; you can drive along the beach.
An amusement park of about 90 acres north of Pandrup, first opened in 1975 as Scandinavia's first summer park.
Built in 1913 and nicknamed the Church at the end of the world; candles are its only light.
A dune plantation on this coast where roe deer live; the Blokhus Sculpture Park, a park of sand sculptures, is in Hune.
A coastal town further along Jammerbugten; protected land lies between Rødhus and Løkken, and Grønhøj's large holiday home area connects to it.
Aalborg is the airport for this coast. Aalborg airport to Fårup Sommerland is about 31 km and 28 minutes by car, and the coast is a little further. By bus the same trip takes about two and a half hours, so hire a car.
Summer is when Blokhus puts out its 47 white beach huts and a lifeguard watches the beach, and Fårup Sommerland is a summer park by design. Outside summer the coast is quieter, and with a fireplace in most homes a cold-weather stay works well for dune walks. Rødhus Church, lit only by candles, is worth a visit in any month. Check what is open before travelling in winter.

Close to it. The amusement park lies north of Pandrup, covers about 90 acres and first opened in 1975. It was the first summer park in Scandinavia.
It is Rødhus Church, built in 1913, the newest and smallest church in the area. Candles are its only light source. Around 1600 the whole area was wiped out by sand storms, before the name Rødhus existed.
