About Pula/Vodnjan
Vodnjan is a town of just under 6,000 people, standing at 135 metres on the plateau north of Pula. Its centre keeps a medieval layout of narrow cobbled streets, and St Blaise Church, consecrated in 1800, has a 62 metre bell tower that is the highest in Istria. Several other churches hold frescoes, and kažuni, small dry-wall stone houses that once marked land holdings, are typical of the area. For about a thousand years local life rested on olives and vines. Our homes are spread around the town and its villages over several kilometres, not in one cluster, and most have a pool. Many sleep eight or more, and some have a sauna or fireplace. The coast is not here: you drive to the beach.

Vodnjan has no beach of its own, so a summer stay means daily drives to the coast. In the cooler months the fireplaces some homes have earn their keep, but check which restaurants stay open before you book.
