Riederalp suits car-free stays above the Rhône valley, with ski-in, ski-out slopes in winter and Aletsch Glacier access in summer. You park in the valley and ride a cable car up.
Riederalp is a car-free mountain village above the Rhône valley. A cable car from Mörel takes 7 to 10 minutes to the plateau it shares with Bettmeralp and Fiescheralp, and it runs all year. The Moosfluh and Hohfluh lookouts, also reached by cable car year-round, look over the Great Aletsch Glacier, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One walk leads back to the village through the Aletsch Forest, and a route to Belalp crosses a suspension bridge above the Massa Gorge. The village's Alpine Museum shows traditional cheese and butter making. Our homes all lie on the plateau, mostly one or two bedrooms for around four. None has a pool or a sauna.
On the same car-free plateau as Riederalp and Fiescheralp, with its own cable car from Betten in the valley.
Woodland beside the glacier; one of Riederalp's standard hikes runs through it and back to the village.

About 30 minutes from Riederalp; MGBahn trains run from Brig to the valley station at Mörel.
Zurich airport is about three hours away by road or train, and Geneva a little over three by road. Trains run from Brig to Mörel, and drivers park at the valley station there, because the plateau is car-free, then ride up on the cable car.
The Aletsch Arena ski season is listed as 5 December 2026 to 4 April 2027, with lifts running 09:00 to 16:30 and four toboggan runs covering about 15 km. In summer the village is for hiking and guided glacier tours with a mountain guide. The Moosfluh and Hohfluh lookouts are reachable by cable car all year.
