Ovronnaz suits couples and families who want a small Valais spa village on a south-facing terrace, with three thermal pools. It is small and tucked above the Rhône, so choose it for the baths and views, not for a big ski area.
Ovronnaz is a small holiday and health resort at about 1,330 metres, on a south-facing terrace above the Rhône near Martigny. It belongs to the municipality of Leytron. Behind it rise the Grand Chavalard, Petit Muveran, Grand Muveran and Haut de Cry, and the view looks over the Rhône valley. The Thermalp baths have three pools with water at 32 to 35 degrees, two of them outdoors. The homes sit within about a kilometre of each other, mostly sleeping around four. About half have a fireplace, some have a sauna, and a private pool is unusual.

Geneva Airport is the usual choice, around two hours by road. Trains from the airport to Martigny run about every half hour and take a little under two hours, then you continue up to the village; journey planners put the whole trip at around three and a half hours. A car is the simpler option, particularly for ski kit.
Winter brings the village ski resort, with a Swiss Ski School, ski rental and scenic tobogganing, and Nendaz has a free winter play area at Tracouet. Summer is for walks such as the Lucky-Luke Trail and for the panorama over the Rhône valley from the sun terrace. The Foire du Valais runs in Martigny in early October.
