Breil/Brigels is a Romansh-speaking village on a terrace above the Vorderrhein, with its own ski area and a family programme. It suits families and snow-sports groups. Few homes have a garden, and there is no pool.
Breil/Brigels sits at 1,280 metres on a terrace north of the Vorderrhein valley, and Romansh is still the first language of most residents. Since a merger with Andiast and Waltensburg/Vuorz, the three villages are promoted together as a compact, family-friendly region, with Brigels as its centre and many things within walking distance. The homes are packed within about a kilometre, so you are in the village. Some have a sauna or a fireplace, and few have a garden. They are typically for around five people. In winter, Bergbahnen Brigels runs 13 lifts and 34 km of pistes, with a seven-kilometre run down to Waltensburg and the Miret snow bar at 2,100 metres. Cross-country trails and seven toboggan runs add variety. In summer, lifts from Waltensburg serve its hiking area instead.

Zurich airport is about 2 hours by car. The train takes around 3.5 hours via Chur and Ilanz, to Tavanasa-Breil/Brigels station, where PostAuto buses run. A car is useful but not required in winter.
Winter is the main season: the ski area has 34 km of pistes, 13 lifts and nine kilometres each of classic and skating cross-country trails. The area also has a 3 km tobogganing run and a family programme with farm visits, cinema evenings and baking lessons. Summer is for hiking, with lifts up to the hiking area from Waltensburg; check their running dates before you book.
