Weggis is a lakeside village on Lake Lucerne at the foot of the Rigi, with a Rigi cable car from the village and boats to Lucerne. It has no railway station, so you arrive by bus, boat or car.
Weggis sits on the northern shore of Lake Lucerne at the south-west base of the Rigi, and it is known for a mild climate that lets palms, chestnuts and fig trees grow in its gardens. Cafés and restaurants line the landing stage, and a waterfront promenade runs towards Vitznau past a memorial stone to Mark Twain, who lived here for a time. Several wellness hotels take day guests. An aerial tramway leads up to Rigi Kaltbad, from where the cog railway continues up the mountain. Lake boats call at the landing stage, mostly hourly to Lucerne. Homes are spread over about a kilometre or two, and most are small, often for two, with a good number having a sauna and a minority a private pool.

Zurich airport is the practical choice, about 45 minutes by car. Weggis has no rail line, so by public transport take the train to Küssnacht and then the Riviera bus line, which takes just over two hours in total, or a boat from Lucerne. A car is useful but not essential.
Weggis is a lake-and-Rigi summer destination: the promenade cafés, boat trips and Rigi walks belong to the warm months. Lake Lucerne's conditions change a lot from day to day, from clear views to cloud and mist, so build in a flexible day for the mountain. The Rigi Kaltbad spa, with its spring-water baths, is a fallback when the views close in.
No. Weggis is not on a rail line, and the Riviera bus line from Küssnacht station and the lake boats are the main public transport, so most visitors arrive by bus, boat or car.
