Villas in Cecina
Cecina gives families a long golden-sand beach, Pisa airport 45 minutes away and villas that mostly have a pool. It is a town of some 28,000 people, not a village, so the villas are spread around it rather than clustered by the sea.

About Cecina
Cecina is a town of about 28,000 people on the Etruscan Coast, founded in its modern form in 1852 and a seaside resort since the 1960s. The centre, with its cathedral on the main square, sits around 3 km inland from Marina di Cecina, joined by a tree-lined avenue. The beach at the marina runs about nine miles, soft sand with scrub behind it, and free stretches alternate with older bathing establishments. A pine wood reaches the sand and forms the Tomboli di Cecina nature reserve, which has picnic areas. Our homes are spread over about five kilometres around the town, and nearly three quarters have a pool. Typically they sleep around six. Check which beach clubs stay open in winter.

Pisa airport is the nearest, about 54 km and 45 minutes by road, with easyJet from Gatwick and Luton and Ryanair from Stansted. Cecina is also on the Genoa to Rome railway line, with hourly trains from Pisa Centrale, but most homes are away from the station, so a car is practical.
When to go to Cecina
The beach season is summer, and the Blue Flag beach, nature reserve and sailing schools all suit warm weather. Out of season, the pine wood and the 9 km walk between sea and river are the draw, and the Etruscan and Roman finds at the Guerrazzi Museum are an indoor option. Ask the owner for beach club opening dates.

Cecina villa holidays: questions answered
Is the beach at Cecina sand or pebble?
Sand. The Marina di Cecina beach is soft sand about nine miles long, and it is wide and golden. Free sections alternate with older bathing establishments, so you can choose a paid club or a free stretch.
Is Cecina good for families?
Yes, mainly for the beach. Marina di Cecina has swimming and sailing schools, stables and a Blue Flag held since 2006, and nearly three quarters of our homes here have a pool. The reserve's picnic areas suit days off the sand.
Cecina or Castiglioncello for a villa stay?
Cecina, for the long sandy beach and a wider choice of homes with pools. Castiglioncello is about 19 minutes north by car, or 11 minutes by hourly train, and the 6 km seafront walk from Cala de' Medici ends there.
How far is Cecina from the Bolgheri vineyards?
Around 20 minutes by car. Bolgheri DOC wine is the local speciality, and the cycle route from Castagneto Carducci to Bolgheri is 4.4 km. There is no direct bus, so use a car or a taxi.
