Villas in Canazei
Canazei suits skiers and summer walkers who want the head of the Fassa Valley and the Sella Ronda close to hand. Homes are small, with no pools, and tourism nearly stops in spring and autumn, so check what is open outside the two main seasons.

About Canazei
Canazei sits at 1,450 m at the top of the Val di Fassa in Trentino, with around 1,900 residents, most of whom spoke Ladin as their first language in the 2001 census. The village is a base for the Marmolada and the Sella group, and the Pordoi Pass road climbs from here over to Arabba. Canazei and Campitello share the largest ski area in the valley, with runs at Belvedere and Col Rodella that feed the Sella Ronda. The homes are spread over a few kilometres of the upper valley rather than all in the centre. There are no evening buses, so after dark you need a car, a taxi in the two main seasons, or your feet. Spring and autumn are almost empty.
Is Canazei right for you?
- Best for
- Skiers and walkers wanting the Sella Ronda and the high passes
- Not for you if
- You want a pool or a busy village in spring or autumn, as homes have no pool and tourism almost stops then.

Bolzano's airport is the nearest at 45 km, Innsbruck is 150 km, and Verona is about 200 km, roughly two and a half hours by road. Buses run from Trento, Bolzano and Milan, mainly in winter and summer. A car is useful, since buses stop in the evening.
When to go to Canazei
Winter is the busiest season, with prices to match, and the first snow usually falls at the end of November. Skiing is alpine and cross-country. Summers are hot, with temperatures that can reach 30 degrees Celsius, and walkers use the lifts that run in summer to reach mountain huts. Tourism is almost non-existent in spring and autumn, so many services will be quiet.

Is Canazei on the Sella Ronda?
Yes. Canazei is a traditional resort on the Sellaronda circuit, and the Canazei and Campitello ski area feeds it. You can go clockwise or anticlockwise by lift and piste, but start before 10am, as the circuit can take up to six hours.
How far is Canazei from Verona airport?
About 200 km, or roughly two hours and twenty minutes by road. Bolzano airport is much closer at 45 km, and Innsbruck is about 150 km away, so compare flights into all three.
Is Canazei good in summer?
Yes, for walkers more than for beach holidays. Hiking trails start from Alba di Canazei via the Ciampac lift, a few lifts run in summer to mountain huts, and temperatures can reach 30 degrees Celsius.
What language do people speak in Canazei?
Ladin. In the 2001 census, 1,498 of 1,818 residents, 82.4 per cent, declared Ladin their native language. The local name for the village is Cianacei or Cenacei.
Are there evening buses in Canazei?
No. Buses are fairly easy to use by day but there are no evening services in the valley. After dark you need a car, a taxi in the winter and summer seasons only, or to walk.
