Arrach is a village of about 2,300 people in the Lamer Winkel valley of the northern Bavarian Forest. It is a walking and cross-country ski base, and no homes here list a pool.
Arrach lies at 490 metres in the Cham district of the Oberpfalz, in the Lamer Winkel, a valley between the Hoher Bogen, Osser, Arber and Kaitersberg. Lam, at about 2,600 people, is the largest village in the valley, and Lohberg is the third municipality. Hiking trails run along the valley and up to the summits, and in winter the valley has cross-country skiing. The Großer Osser, 1,293 metres, sits on the Czech border, with steep, rocky paths and views into the Bohemian Forest. Our homes sit close together around Arrach. Most are for around four people, with two bedrooms, and a few sleep many more. Some have a garden.

Summer and early autumn suit hiking: the Haus Willmann hut on the Osser runs in summer, and the summit is busy on summer weekends. In winter the Lamer Winkel has cross-country skiing. Spring and late autumn are quieter, but check that huts and facilities are open before you plan a route.
