Les Menuires suits skiers who want a base in the Belleville valley with direct access to the Three Valleys. Most homes are small apartments for around four. The catch is that this is a resort founded in 1964, not an old village, and the nearest UK flights land at Chambéry, about an hour and a half away.
Les Menuires is a ski resort in the Belleville valley, between Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Val Thorens. It was founded in 1964, when the first three drag lifts went in, so the buildings are those of a 1960s purpose-built resort, centred on La Croisette. Its slopes connect into Les Trois Vallées, which claims about 600 km of runs (an independent expert measured about 493 km) and links Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Orelle. Our homes are compact, nearly all within a kilometre of each other. Almost none has a garden, and a few have a sauna or a fireplace. Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, a village in the same valley, is now part of the commune of Les Belleville.
About 30 minutes by bus. Skiable from 1,825 m to 3,200 m, in the same Three Valleys ski area.
Village in the same valley, part of the commune of Les Belleville since 2016, and linked into the Three Valleys ski area.
Both connected over the summits within the Three Valleys ski area. Méribel was established in 1939 and Courchevel in 1946.
About 35 minutes by road. The valley town whose bus station has coaches up to the resort, taking about an hour.
Chambéry is the nearest airport with UK flights, about an hour and a half by road. Geneva is about two hours fifteen. Alternatively a bus runs between Moûtiers and Les Menuires, about an hour. Most homes are close together, so on arrival you can walk between them.
Lift passes in the Three Valleys are generally valid from mid-December to mid-April, and Val Thorens and Orelle sometimes run into early May. Val Thorens itself is usually open from mid-November. For summer, check with the resort which lifts, shops and activities are running for your dates before you book.
About 30 minutes by bus. The two sit in the same Belleville valley and are linked on skis, with Val Thorens higher up, skiable from 1,825 m to 3,200 m.
Yes. Les Menuires is one of the linked resorts of Les Trois Vallées, along with Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Orelle. The area claims about 600 km of slopes, though an independent expert measured about 493 km.
Chambéry, about an hour and a half by road, has seasonal flights from several UK airports. Geneva is about two hours fifteen. Either way, plan a transfer or hire car, or take a bus up from Moûtiers.
Three Valleys lift passes are generally valid from mid-December to mid-April. Val Thorens and Orelle sometimes stay open to early May, so late-season trips may mean skiing higher up the valley.
No. It was founded in 1964, when the first three drag lifts were installed, and is a ski resort built around La Croisette. Saint-Martin-de-Belleville is a separate village in the same valley.
