About Argelès sur Mer
Argelès sur Mer has about ten thousand residents and sits at the foot of the Albères mountains, near the Spanish border. The beach is the longest in the department, and the Bois des pins, a pine forest planted in the 1860s, still holds over 8,000 pines more than a century old. Up in the Albères are the 13th-century Massane tower and the Massane forest nature reserve. Argelès is also where the Côte Vermeille begins, running down the coast to Cerbère. Our homes are spread over about two kilometres. Nearly all have a pool, most have air conditioning, and they mostly sleep around four in two bedrooms.
