About Baden
Baden is a commune of about 4,900 people on the edge of the Gulf of Morbihan, roughly halfway between Auray, 8 km away, and Vannes, 13 km. Its winding 37 km of coastline takes in four islands, and the GR 34 coast path runs along it. Port-Blanc is the harbour and marina, mainly serving passenger boats to the Île aux Moines. Oyster farming was once big along the Rivière d'Auray and still goes on in places, and there is a golf course on the river's left bank. The Pointe du Blair holds an Iron Age burial ground of several hundred small mounds. The homes are spread across the commune, mostly sleeping about six, and nearly all have a garden. Check boat timetables before an off-season visit.
