About Bonnieux
Bonnieux is a small hill village of around 1,200 people, set at about 420 m on top of the Luberon hills and looking over the valley towards Mont Ventoux. Ménerbes, Lacoste, Roussillon and Gordes are all nearby. Below the village, the Calavon river runs through the commune past the Pont Julien, a Roman bridge from 3 BC. On the Petit Luberon ridge, the cedar forest was first sown in 1861 and now covers around 250 hectares shared with Lacoste and Ménerbes. The homes are spread across the countryside around the village rather than inside the old centre, so most mornings start with a drive.
