Les Deux Alpes
More than half of our Dauphinoise homes are here. The ski area climbs to the Mont-de-Lans glacier at over 3,500 metres, so snow holds up late in the season, and the long vertical suits good intermediates. The lower runs back to the village get icy and crowded at the end of the day. In summer there is a large bike park, and the Écrins mountains are close. Lyon airport is around two hours away.
Best for: Keen skiers and groups who want high snow and a lively village
Not for you if: You want a quiet, traditional village: Les Deux Alpes is a purpose-built resort with a long main road and busy bars.
