About Pyhäjärvi
Pyhäjärvi, Finland's second smallest town by population with about 4,500 people, lies in the south of North Ostrobothnia, bordering North Savo and Central Finland. It takes its name from Lake Pyhäjärvi, about 125 square kilometres of water known for its fish. Pyhäsalmi is the town's seat, and the Pyhäsalmi Mine, at 1,444 metres Europe's deepest base metal mine, has been worked for zinc and copper. Highway 4 and the Ylivieska to Iisalmi railway pass through. Our homes are spread around the lake area rather than in town, each with a sauna and a fireplace, so stock up in Pyhäsalmi before heading out.
