Kožino is a village of around 800 people 9 km north-west of Zadar, and it falls within the City of Zadar rather than standing as a separate resort. Most residents still grow vines and olives, and the Church of St Michael the Archangel, built in 1522, dominates the village. The homes are grouped close together. The beaches are a mix of sand and pebble with clear water, and are considered safe for children. July and August bring a run of village events and festivities, and local restaurants serve cheese, prosciutto, lamb and fish. Outside the summer it is a quiet, lived-in place, and Zadar is where to go for shops and a wider choice of restaurants.
