Kolan is a village and municipality on Pag, the island whose moon-like terrain earned it the nickname Moon Island. The municipality, separated from the town of Pag in 2003, has three settlements, and Mandre is larger than Kolan itself. Most of the island is rocky, with Mediterranean scrub in small areas, so expect little shade. The protected area of Kolansko blato is named after the village. The homes cluster in and around the village and are mostly small, for two to four people, with a garden at about half of them and a pool at few. Novalja, one of the island's two towns, is about ten minutes away by car.
