Peroj, a village on the Fažana Channel, suits families and couples who want a quiet base close to Pula Airport and the Brijuni boats. About half the homes have a private pool. The village is small, though, so for restaurants and a harbour front you head into Fažana or Pula.
Peroj is a village of around 900 people in the Town of Vodnjan, on the south-western coast of Istria, looking across the Fažana Channel to the Brijuni islands. Its old core is stone houses with balconies, and its history is unusual: Montenegrin families settled here in 1657, and the Orthodox church of St Spyridon took its present form in 1834. In Roman times the spot was a well-known summer resort. Our homes are grouped together close to the village. Evenings are very quiet; the restaurants and cafés are on Fažana's waterfront.
A small fishermen's town with its own port, a waterfront lined with restaurants and cafés, and the boats out to the Brijuni archipelago.
The archipelago visible across the channel from Peroj, reached on boat trips from Fažana; there is diving within the national park too.
The town about five kilometres from Peroj that the village belongs to administratively; the regional road from Vodnjan to Pula passes through Fažana.
The city is about 10 km from Peroj, around 15 minutes by car, or 30 minutes on the local bus to Peroj Centar.
Pula Airport is the nearest, about 7 km from Peroj. Pula to Peroj is around 15 minutes by car, and a bus runs every three hours or so. A car makes sense: buses are infrequent, and the beaches, Fažana and the rest of Istria are easier to reach on your own schedule.
It faces them. Peroj looks across the Fažana Channel to the Brijuni archipelago, and the boat trips out to the islands leave from Fažana.
Because of its settlers. In 1657 Venice had the village repopulated, and Orthodox families from Montenegro were among the settlers. The church of St Spyridon reached its present form in 1834.
Very. This is a village of around 900 people, so dinner out usually means heading to the restaurants and cafés along Fažana's waterfront or into Pula.
Not far. Pula Airport is the nearest airport, about 7 km away, which keeps transfers short at either end of the holiday.
