Tschagguns suits couples who want a small Montafon village with its own ski mountain, the Golm, and a station on the valley railway. Hikers get the Gauertal on the doorstep. Most homes here are for two, so families and groups have far less choice.
Tschagguns is a village of about 2,200 people at 685 metres in the Montafon valley of Vorarlberg. It is known for its traditional architecture and its setting, and it has its own ski mountain, the Golm. The homes are in and around the village. The Gauertal, a side valley between the Mittagspitze and the Golm, is known for the 3 Türme, and Hemingway wrote of snow falling all Christmas week up in the Gauertal. Tschagguns station is on the Bludenz to Schruns line. Evenings are quiet; Schruns has the livelier atmosphere. Most homes sleep two, with a few bigger ones; check each listing for a sauna or fireplace.
Tschagguns' own ski area, with a 3 km toboggan run and Golmi's Adventure World, an easy themed trail for families.
