Les Emibois suits a couple who want a sauna and open Franches-Montagnes farmland with its own small railway halt. Choice is very small, and the homes here sleep only two.
Les Emibois is a hamlet of Muriaux, a commune of under 500 people in the Franches-Montagnes district at around 950 metres, where dairy farming and cattle breeding are the mainstays. Most of the land is farmland and more than a third is forest. The hamlet has a request stop on the metre-gauge line between La Chaux-de-Fonds and Glovelier, with trains every hour. Neighbouring Saignelégier, the district seat, has an ice rink, a cheese dairy and the Étang de la Gruère bog reserve within its boundaries. The homes here are for two, and most have a sauna.
The neighbouring district seat, with the Marché-Concours hall, an ice rink and a market tradition dating back to 1428.
A bog and protected nature reserve lying within the neighbouring municipality of Saignelégier.
The next station towards La Chaux-de-Fonds, 2.4 km down the line from Les Emibois.
Basel is about 70 minutes by car from Saignelégier, or about two and a half hours by train via Delémont and Glovelier. Les Emibois has its own request stop, but a car makes the plateau much easier.
Yes. It is a request stop on the La Chaux-de-Fonds to Glovelier line run by Chemins de fer du Jura, with hourly trains in each direction.
It is made for one. The homes here sleep two and most have a sauna, but choice is very small, so check availability early.
