About Maienfeld
Maienfeld sits in the northernmost corner of Graubünden, at the centre of the Bündner Herrschaft, the wine area that runs from the Rhine to the Liechtenstein border. It is one of the four wine villages there, with Fläsch, Jenins and Malans. Blauburgunder, the local Pinot Noir, dominates the vineyards in what is called the warmest wine region in German-speaking Switzerland, helped along by the föhn. Many of the local cellars, known as Torkel, open for visits. Maienfeld is also the original setting of the Heidi story, and the Heidi village is here. The town is known too for Beerliwein and horse races. The homes are close together in the town; check each listing for gardens and fireplaces.
