About Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca began as a small fishing village and is now a resort with shops, restaurants and pavement cafés, in the municipality of Yaiza, the island's southernmost. Playa Dorada, about 2 km from the marina, is fine white sand with calm water inside a shell of rocks, about 350 metres long, with sunbed and watercraft hire, showers and toilets. Papagayo is a group of secluded white-sand coves, with Papagayo beach itself between two cliffs and about 7 km from the marina. The homes lie around the resort over four kilometres or so, so some are a walk from the shops and others a short drive. Most have a pool and a garden, and they are usually built for around four or five people. Few sleep more than eight. Evenings revolve around the restaurants and pavement cafés. Boat trips run from the port to the island of Lobos and to Fuerteventura.
