Armação de Pêra suits families wanting a pool and a town beach, about 35 minutes by road from Faro airport. July and August are the busy months, and few homes have a garden.
Armação de Pêra is a town of under 5,000 people in the municipality of Silves, on a broad bay that stretches from Pont da Galé to Senhora da Rocha. Its beaches include Praia dos Pescadores, the Fishermen's Beach, along with Maré Grande, Beijinhos and Salomão. It has no harbour, and it is one of the last places in the region where fishing boats are still launched from and pulled up onto the beach. There are hotels, cafés and restaurants, and a chapel to Santo António. Our homes sit close together. Many have a private pool, most have air conditioning and few have a garden; many sleep four, and some sleep eight or more.

July and August are the peak, when the Algarve's population climbs to over a million. Good weather lasts roughly five to six months, so many places are quieter in the low season. Winters are mild and wet, with December the wettest month and July the driest. Sea temperatures peak in September, so late season can still suit swimming.
