Acquarica del Capo suits families and groups wanting an inland Salento base with a garden and often air conditioning. The sea is about 10 km away and the homes are spread widely, so a car is needed.
Acquarica del Capo sits at 110 m in Salento, about 10 km from the Ionian Sea and about 60 km from Lecce. It merged with neighbouring Presicce in 2019 to form Presicce-Acquarica. The town grew round a probable Norman fortification that Giovanni Antonio Orsini Del Balzo, Prince of Taranto, later turned into a castle; one round tower of the original four survives. At Celsorizzo there is a fortified masseria with a Norman tower and a chapel with Byzantine frescoes. The homes are spread across a wide area, not just the town. Most sleep around four, most have air conditioning and a garden, and a minority have a pool. Out of season the town is quiet.

Fly to Brindisi. Buses from the airport change at Lecce and take over three hours, while the drive from Brindisi town is about an hour and a half, so a hire car is the practical choice for the town and the coast.
The coast is the draw in summer, with the sea about 10 km from the town. Most homes have air conditioning, which helps in the hottest months. Pools are a minority, so check before booking if you want one. The patron saint's feast, Saint Charles Borromeo, falls on 4 November. Beach businesses may close out of season, so check before travelling.
