Sorico Albonico is a small place in the Province of Como, on the bus route along Lake Como's west side, suited to quiet stays. Few homes have a private pool, and a car helps.
Albonico is one of three hamlets of Sorico, along with Bugiallo and Dascio, in the Province of Como in Lombardy. Sorico is a small municipality rather than a resort. A bus between Como and Colico along the west side of Lake Como stops at Sorico, and the village is the northern end of the long-distance footpath Via dei Monti Lariani. The homes are grouped around the hamlet and the municipality, and most have a garden, but only a few have a private pool. They are mostly small, sized for two to four, and few sleep as many as eight. Expect a quiet base for walking, with Como itself over an hour away by car.
Trains from Monza and Milan reach Colico, and a local bus runs on from there to Sorico.
About 45 km away, roughly an hour and a quarter by car or just over two hours by bus via Menaggio.
This long-distance footpath has its northern end at Sorico, so walkers can set out from the village.
Milan Bergamo airport is about an hour and a half away by road. There is no direct public link: bus and train via Monza or Milan Centrale to Colico, then a bus to Sorico, takes about three and a half hours. A car is far easier here.
Sorico is a small place with no resort season of its own, so plans depend on what you want from the lake. Walkers on the Via dei Monti Lariani will want settled weather, while those driving to Como or Colico can come at any time. Check bus timetables and opening times before an off-season visit.
