La Plagne suits ski stays for small groups, with a link to Les Arcs through Paradiski and Geneva just over two hours away by road. It is a set of linked villages, not one town, and the homes here cluster tightly in one spot, so check which village you are booking.
La Plagne is a ski area made of linked villages: Plagne Centre opened first, in 1961, and the others include Aime-La Plagne, Champagny, Montchavin, Plagne Bellecôte, Les Coches, Belle Plagne and La Plagne 1800. The area runs from 1,250 metres at Montchavin to 3,250 metres, and since 2003 the Vanoise Express cable car has linked it with Les Arcs to form Paradiski. A bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track was built here for the 1992 Winter Olympics. The homes cluster tightly in a single place, are mostly small and usually sleep up to six. Most are listed with a pool and many with a sauna, and none has a garden.
Reached over the Vanoise Express cable car from the Peisey side, which joins the two areas into Paradiski.
Valley town with the TGV station, about 27 minutes by road; a funicular climbs from there to Arc 1600.
One of the four communes of the ski area, with summer activities in the Vanoise National Park.
One of the ski area's four communes, home to Aime La Plagne railway station; the Télémétro links the Aime-La Plagne village with Plagne Centre.
Geneva is the main airport, about 147 kilometres and 2 hours 10 minutes by road, with on-demand shuttles taking about 2 hours 40 minutes. Trains run to Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Aime La Plagne stations, so a car is not essential if you book a taxi or shuttle for the final climb.
Winter is the main season, with skiing from the villages at 1,250 metres up to glacier terrain above 3,000 metres, so choose your village and altitude with the month in mind. Skiing on the Chiaupe glacier ended after the 2022/23 season, while Bellecôte remains. In summer, Champagny has activities in the Vanoise National Park; check which lifts and shops are open before you book.

No. It is a group of linked villages and hamlets, from Montchavin at 1,250 metres to Plagne Bellecôte and La Plagne 1800, spread across four communes. Check which village your home is in before booking.
It was. The resort's bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track was built in La Plagne for the 1992 Winter Olympics.
Partly. Trains serve Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Aime-La Plagne stations in the valley. From there you need a taxi, bus or shuttle, as the resort villages sit high above.
