Peyragudes (Louron and Larboust valleys)
Peyragudes sits on the ridge between the Louron and Larboust valleys, with pistes on both sides at Peyresourde and Les Agudes. It has a mountain airstrip, used for the opening scene of the Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies, and the Col de Peyresourde road below is a Tour de France regular. In summer the lifts carry walkers and mountain bikers. Toulouse airport is around two hours away.
Best for: Skiers who want to be on the slopes with wide views
Not for you if: You want a village with bars and shops: Peyragudes is a purpose-built resort at altitude.
